Christmas purchases start from November
Clothing, Hotels, Flight Tickets on high demand
Increased purchases via Mobile and Tablet
EBay & Amazon are the first choices
The results of the fourth quarter of 2015 of the subscription tool for measuring and analyzing online shopping in Cyprus - The I Report – were announced today by Evresis Research and Interactive Marketing Services Company, ImarComms.
The I Report tracked the online consumer behavior of the Cypriot consumer for the fourth quarter of 2015 with December recording the highest buying traffic from the rest months of the quarter with 54.3%. Also, November was very close with 52.1% while October recorded 46.8%.
Generally, the online purchases reached 35.2%, recording an increase of 0.9% compared to the fourth quarter of 2015 and an increase of 0.8% from the corresponding period of 2014.
The I Report recorded a constant increase in the use of mobile phones for online purchases reaching 35.3% of all online purchases of the fourth quarter of 2015, while also constant rise was recorded on the purchases made via Tablet, reaching 28.3%. The percentage of purchases conducted from a personal computer dropped to 70.6%.
Also, the 89% of the online purchases were conducted from home and the 8% from the office.
Regarding the categories and types of products purchased online, the I Report recorded:
As first the ‘Clothing Category’ with 53.5% and an increase of 2.8% from the previous quarter, with ‘Sportswear’ rising to 81.6% and ‘Work Wear’ reducing to 35.4%
As second, the Category ‘Hotels’ with 43% and a rise of 3.3%
As third, the Category ‘Flight Tickets’ with 35.3% and an increase of 1.7%
As fourth, the Category ‘Cosmetics’ with 33.7% and a rise of 5.6%
Concerning the websites and online shops from where the purchases were conducted, the I Report recorded as first Ebay with 60.4% and a decrease of 0.8%, as second Amazon with 26.5% and an increase of 1.4% and as third Ryain Air with 21.7% and a rise of 2.4%.
Also from the remaining online shops, the I Report recorded among the Top Ten amongst others - Asos with 15.8% and Airtickets with 14.7%.
